Isaac Peters

Tim Vinton Ranch

Isaac Peters is from Coburg, Oregon, and is currently studying Animal Science and Agricultural Business at Eastern Oregon University. This summer, he will intern at the Tim Vinton Ranch near Whitman.

Although Isaac grew up in a rural community surrounded by row crop agriculture, he did not develop a strong interest in the agricultural industry until high school. With no opportunities like FFA or 4-H available at his school, Isaac found another path into agriculture through a family friend in Wyoming who introduced him to sheep and cattle ranching. In addition to his agricultural interests, Isaac was actively involved in sports, competing in football, wrestling, and track throughout high school.

His experiences in Wyoming, along with his time at the Eastern Oregon Agriculture Research Center, have enabled him to apply classroom knowledge in hands-on settings and deepen his understanding of livestock and agricultural systems.

Isaac is particularly looking forward to improving his horsemanship skills and becoming more effective and efficient while working with cattle. He is also excited to expand his knowledge of cattle health, treatment practices, and herd management, while learning more about the business side of ranching and decision-making.

Outside of agriculture, Isaac enjoys staying active and prioritizes fitness in his daily routine. Whether he’s working out while listening to music or finding ways to stay moving after a full day, he values maintaining an active lifestyle and challenging himself to keep improving.

A little more about Isaac: he is a serious pickleball player and enjoys any form of physical competition. His favorite motto is, "If you're on time, you're late." He believes that some of the best learning opportunities come from stepping into unfamiliar situations and taking on new challenges.

Isaac expressed, "I am most excited to work in the beautiful Sandhills of Nebraska, where the history of livestock production is second to none, and the producers and ranchers in this program are leaders in the field and exceptional people to learn from."
