Brycen Stewart

Haythorn Land & Cattle Co.

Brycen Stewart, from Bronson, Kansas, is currently studying Horse Training and Business Management at Lamar Community College. This summer, he will be interning at Haythorn Land & Cattle near Arthur, Nebraska, where he looks forward to gaining hands-on experience and learning from a large Sandhills ranch operation.

Brycen grew up on a small cow/calf operation, where he assisted his father with various aspects of ranch work. From an early age, he became involved in colt starting and riding young horses, developing a strong interest in horsemanship and the cow-horse side of the equine industry. His experiences with livestock and horses have significantly shaped his interests and goals.

Brycen says his dad has been the biggest influence in his life. He has always encouraged him to pursue his passions, whether in horse training, cowboying, or future business goals. This support has played a major role in strengthening Brycen’s interest in agriculture and building his confidence as he moves forward.

Brycen applied for the Sandhills Ranch Internship Program because of the valuable connections and experiences it offers. He looks forward to meeting people from different backgrounds, seeing how different operations do things, and continuing to build his knowledge in horsemanship. He is also eager to gain experience in equine reproduction and deepen his understanding of the cattle industry.

After completing college and his internship, Brycen plans to work on a ranch, focusing on the beef side of an operation while advancing his journey in horse training.

Brycen comes from a large family, having three younger brothers and one older brother. He enjoys teamwork and loves spending time horseback riding or cowboying with his brothers whenever he can. If he could spend a day with anyone, past or present, he would choose Buster Welch, as he believes he could learn valuable lessons to improve his skills as a cowboy. Additionally, if he could instantly acquire any ranch-related skill, he would choose to have comprehensive knowledge of livestock husbandry.
