Adrianna Underwood

Apache Ranch

Adrianna Underwood is joining Apache Ranch this summer, traveling all the way from Bemidji, Minnesota. Adrianna’s agricultural roots run deep; her family operated a fourth-generation dairy farm until recently transitioning to a Black Angus cow/calf operation. She grew up in a close-knit family with four siblings, surrounded by cousins and grandparents who all live nearby. Being actively involved in 4-H, showing Holsteins, horses, and barrel racing, made fair week one of the highlights of her year, where she created many cherished memories.

During the COVID pandemic, while attending online classes, Adrianna assisted her grandfather Tim on a daily basis. She learned a great deal from him and credits him with inspiring her passion for agriculture, particularly in caring for livestock and the rewarding work that it entails. During this time, she gained hands-on experience working at various local ranches, helped launch an AQHA breeding program, and began training young horses.

Eager to expand her knowledge, Adrianna was drawn to the Sandhills Ranch Internship Program for the opportunity to work with a ranch mentor and gain insight into large-scale cow-calf operations. She looks forward to this educational experience, learning from her mentors and building the skills necessary to manage or own a ranch herself one day.

Adrianna enjoys a good cinnamon roll with her morning coffee. This summer, she is especially excited to meet new people and absorb knowledge, particularly in horsemanship, stockmanship, and the decision-making involved in sustainable ranch management. Her long-term goal is to manage or own a successful, profitable ranch, and she is dedicated to taking every opportunity to move closer to that dream.
